Latvija Is Joke | |
---|---|
Latvija in proto-Lithuanian language means, "Land of Potatoes". It was a joke uneducated villagers took seriously during the first documented Pan-European potato blight in the year 1220. They migrated north looking for arable land to grow their potatoes, only to be stripped of their citizenship by Mindaugas the Great, who was looking to reduce his exposure in paying out agrarian entitlements. Even worse, their potato crops yielded almost nothing, and many of these immigrants starved to death. Today, the people of Latvija enjoy a bountiful supply of potatoes thanks to manmade climate change triggered by their gratuitous dairy farming. Latvija's propensity for smelling their own flatulence lead to a shortage of methane as early as the 1500s. Over the generations, the world's most gas bloated bovine species were developed to satisfy their centuries long thirst for smelling farts. This gradually lead to the formation of the thick blanket of greenhouse gasses our atmosphere enjoys today. Latvija might be considered fake-Lithuania by most scholars, but its contributions to Baltic culture stand on their own independently.
